Displaying the newspapers
Just an idea for the show. Displaying the newspapers on a newspaper stand and designing a poster to fit in the wire front. £135 from Trade Wind or the possibility of borrowing one from the Evening Standard? There will probably be quite a number of newspapers so they'll probably be placed around the stand in batches...

Initial layout for the newspaper books
1. Celebratory Newspaper Book: this will follow the same format as the original idea, being able to punch out the pieces to use such as a fly swot etc... However i have placed the uses in history order from old uses to modern ones, finishing with recycling and completing the back page with a glossy, bright coloured finish to represent modern technologies such as the blog. I am still unsure of the dimensions- tabloid/broadsheet/or bigger?? This book is somewhat celebrating the life of the newspaper and would be something you buy to keep and teasure.
2. Kitchen/Garage Newspaper Book: This newspaper book will be part of the series. You will able buy it at a cheap price for either your garden or kitchen. Every household will need this particular book to create quick, easy and very cheap impliments to help them with day to day stuff, such as an emergency dustpan or an emergency garden kneeler... etc
3. Kids Newspaper Book: This would be the third book of the series, a small childrens newspaper book with fun activites to keep kids occupied. The red sections will vary slightly each month. Such as the card making page will change depending on the time of year!
As i won't be able to produce the whole series of newspaper books. I will save a page in these newspaper books devoted to the promotion of the rest of the books in the series!

I've set up an email address, which i have put on the posters. This means (in theory!) people will see the poster and email me there thoughts and stories to this address. If anyone has pics of themselves or relatives using newspapers for what ever reason then I would be really grateful if you could email them to me, the bigger the collection the better!!!

Questionnaire?
I would really like to get the publics views/opinions and ultimately there uses for old newspapers. To get this information i've been thinking a Questionniare could be a good starting point. I will then be able to gather the information and use it to create graphically interesting charts and diagrams.
My other thought was to promote a website specific to my project or a blog site or just simply an email address, using leaflets, posters/fly posters etc. Which would enable the public to send there experiences, thoughts and views on newspapers.
Or... Similar to an artist (the name excapes me) who told each household in his area to look out of there window at a certain time on a certain day. He then photographed them. Maybe i could do a simliar thing where i ask households to leave out there 'newspaper use' by the door on a certain day...

Collecting newspaper uses...
I find it fascinating how people re-use the newspaper, and i'm trying to capture moments when newspapers are being used. I was working in the pub earlier and another employee said "oh i'll just try and find some old newspaper to lay these flowers on". I'm looking forward to having a massive collection of photographs representing the uses. I think it could be interesting to see if the uses vary from generations/class etc...
