Newspaper delivery bag

For the show i will present the newspapers in a newspaper delivery bag and get someone (possibly a second yr) to hand them out to the people!

I've found a company that will do it, and for not very much money! The main man is calling me tomorrow to disscuss it, but it won't take too long to make and i will hopefully be able to have it in one of the show colours with the name of the newspaper on the front!

Here's an example of a couple of spreads so far, obviously not quite finished yet! I've done the basic layout (similar to these) of 52 out of 60 spreads.

This is the revisied layout for the main 'newspaper book' celebrating the newspaper/ the history of!

Two Issues to over come at the mo...

1. I wanted the back page bright red glossy to represent the modern world of blogging but this is virtually impossible. So do i design an insert done seperatly and slip it in the back??

2. What do i call the newspaper? I need a name that will represent the 'newspaper book', but as i'm no good with words i'm struggling! Help!!

The next three weeks are going to be spent designing it.

I think i've found a printer...

I have found a print company who print newspapers... digitally- the process is a lot quicker and more efficient. The cost is loads lower than the quotes of £5000 i was getting with traditional printers. The quality is slightly different as it's obviously printed differently but I am going to visit them tomorrow to check it out and clarify a few other things in person such as the size, how much more it will be to have colour on back page, when they'll be able to fit me in etc! It's a really positive step as i was worried i was going to have to sacrifice a lot of pages and work to reduce the cost, but this works as a good alternative.

Displaying the newspapers

Just an idea for the show. Displaying the newspapers on a newspaper stand and designing a poster to fit in the wire front. £135 from Trade Wind or the possibility of borrowing one from the Evening Standard? There will probably be quite a number of newspapers so they'll probably be placed around the stand in batches...

Initial layout for the newspaper books

1. Celebratory Newspaper Book: this will follow the same format as the original idea, being able to punch out the pieces to use such as a fly swot etc... However i have placed the uses in history order from old uses to modern ones, finishing with recycling and completing the back page with a glossy, bright coloured finish to represent modern technologies such as the blog. I am still unsure of the dimensions- tabloid/broadsheet/or bigger?? This book is somewhat celebrating the life of the newspaper and would be something you buy to keep and teasure.

















2. Kitchen/Garage Newspaper Book: This newspaper book will be part of the series. You will able buy it at a cheap price for either your garden or kitchen. Every household will need this particular book to create quick, easy and very cheap impliments to help them with day to day stuff, such as an emergency dustpan or an emergency garden kneeler... etc

















3. Kids Newspaper Book: This would be the third book of the series, a small childrens newspaper book with fun activites to keep kids occupied. The red sections will vary slightly each month. Such as the card making page will change depending on the time of year!


As i won't be able to produce the whole series of newspaper books. I will save a page in these newspaper books devoted to the promotion of the rest of the books in the series!

Paper Chickens!

The more i think about newspapers, the more strange uses i find for them! This was a shop window near harrods-paper chickens-brilliant!!!!!
